Portals
Up one levelWeb portals, also called science gateways, allow users to run software on remote supercomputers via a web browser.
- CIG Seismology Web Portal — by Sue Kientz — last modified 2009-01-28 10:27 AM
- Provides automated and on-demand 3D simulations, e.g., seismic wave propagation and synthetic seismograms. This site launches a simulation on remote supercomputers (mostly TeraGrid machines) using data gathered from various web sites and databases, and returns the results to the user. Also offers 1D synthetics using the Mineos serial mode-summation code.
- MAG Web Portal — by Sue Kientz — last modified 2009-01-28 10:24 AM
- Allows you to run the geodynamo code MAG without compiling it locally. Create and submit a MAG job to a selected TeraGrid site, monitor its progress and, when complete, download a tar-ball with the job results to further analyze locally or visualize with IDL software. You can queue up a long serial run rather than tie up your local machine. MAG is a serial version of a rotating spherical convection/magneto-convection/dynamo code that solves the non-dimensional Boussinesq equations for time-dependent thermal convection in a rotating spherical shell filled with an electrically conducting fluid.
