Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (Geophysics
Section) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich,
Germany, is seeking applications from enthusiastic young
researchers for an assistant professorship in seismology. </span></span><span
class="MsoSubtleEmphasis"><span
style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;line-height:120%;
color:windowtext;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;font-style:normal"
lang="EN-US">The successful candidate is aiming for an
academic career and expected to hold a Ph.D. in Earth or
related sciences with experience in seismological research, to
develop his/her own research profile and cooperate with and/or
complement the ongoing Earth Science activities. </span></span><span
class="MsoSubtleEmphasis"><span
style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;line-height:120%;color:windowtext;font-style:normal">These
include the development of forward modelling and inversion
tools for seismic wave propagation, rotational motions in
seismology, seismic hazard, geodynamics, volcanology and
others. The successful candidate is expected to supervise
graduate students and teach courses in basic seismology.
Munich Geophysics also runs a seismic network in Bavaria with
a special focus on the study of externally forced swarmquakes.
