DivergenceForce imposes a positive divergence on the designated
elements. DivergenceForce=0 will impose nothing and if its applied to
the center of the ridge axis it will behave as M=0. To get M=1 (100%
plate spreading accommodated magmatically), then you'll have to set
DivergenceForce appropriately for the dike zone width and imposed
spreading rate. <br>

But again, as I recall, Gale was not imposing the divergence that I had
set it to in the rifting example. In order to get the behavior you
seek, you'll probably have to experiment with what you set
DivergenceForce to as well as how many elements it is applied across
(in the x-direction) . E.g., plot horizontal velocity across the
dike zone for a given DivergenceForce, dike zone width and see what you
get. <br>

Walter, from what I recall I dont think we got this issue (as well as
my weird "bat ears") sorted out. Perhaps its related to the linear
pressure-elements, which do not do as good a allowing an abrupt change
in pressure?<br>
