Dear Qinya:
Thanks for your mail.
I have set SAVE_MESH_FILES true. and i do follow section 7.1's guide, I have chosen dvs/vs option, but it comes out error, the warning says end of file, so how can i obtain the S_wave velocity model in this way?
I apprecitate any assistance from you.
Thank you very much.
Li LIAO

------------------ 原始邮件 ------------------
>From: Qinya Liu <liuqinya@gmail.com>
>Reply-To:
>To: 廖力<liaoli07@mails.gucas.ac.cn>
>Subject: Re: [BULK] [CIG-SEISMO] A question about xcombine_vol_data
>Date: Fri, 23 Apr 2010 11:07:49 -0400
>

Hi Li,

Details are on Page 32 of the manual:

http://www.geodynamics.org/cig/software/packages/seismo/specfem3d-globe/manual_SPECFEM3D_GLOBE.pdf

and please also refer to the usage message when you just type xcombine_vol_data.

An example of xcombine_vol_data:

xcombine_vol_data slice_list vs . . 0 1

which combines the proc*vs.bin files of slices in slice_list (listed row by row) for the crust+mantle (region 1) in low-resolution.

Once you obtain the .mesh file, you can use mesh2vtu.pl to convert it to vtu which can then be visualized in paraview (To compile mesh2vtu code, you need the vtk libraries)

But I believe if you just want to visualize vs files, using SAVE_MESH_FILES flag in the Par_file may be more helpful, please refer to section 7.1 for more details.

Good luck,
Qinya

2010/4/22 廖力 <liaoli07@mails.gucas.ac.cn>

Dear Sirs:
I am a graduate students from China, my name is Li LIAO,I have two questiones about Specfem3D-global.
First: I want to get the S-wave velocity model like figure5-1 in the manual.I have got some binary files like proc000000_reg3(1,2)_vs.bin. But when i use xcombine_vol_data to combine all the *vs.bin only get 6 *.mesh files and they are very small only 4 bytes. it seems i have met some errors when i run xcombine_vol_data. could you give me a example of Xcombine_vol_data. and the next step is using mesh2vtu.pl,could you give me a example of this also?
Second: Can i use any arbitary P-wave S-wave model by myself in the simulation?
Thank you very much!
Regards
