[aspect-devel] [ASPECT] Definition of velocity gradient

Sylvia,

the gradient in deal.II is defined as (\nabla u)_{ij} = \partial u_i /
\partial x_j which is typically returned in a Tensor<2,dim>.

Note that we use the symmetric gradient of the velocity in the Stokes
formulation so I can't think of a case inside ASPECT where this
information matters.
