Description:

We seek a postdoctoral scholar to carry out research on the geodynamic cycling of volatiles through the Earth’s deep interior, focusing on the role of deep Earth processes in the global carbon cycle.  The postdoctoral scholar will engage in developing numerical and mathematical models of carbon pathways in the deep Earth through coupled geochemical reservoir and geodynamics models that explore key processes and incorporate diverse observational constraints. The postdoc will participate in developing visualizations of global carbon pathways and will have opportunities to participate in outreach to the larger deep-carbon research community. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers in geodynamics and geochemistry at UC Davis led by Prof. Louise Kellogg and Prof. Sujoy Mukhopadhyay.

 UC Davis Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is ranked among the top 20 Earth Science graduate programs in the country

Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in geophysics, geochemistry, computational science or a closely related field; experience in developing and using geodynamical models or mathematical models of global geochemical cycles. Experience working with or developing scientific software for modeling, data visualization, and interpretation. Requires strong communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. Record of scientific productivity and publication commensurate with appointment as a postdoctoral scholar.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scale, in accordance with current Postdoctoral Scholar Salary scale. A full-benefits package consisting of medical/dental and vision plans will also be offered. 

Initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal (contingent upon satisfactory progress).
