[aspect-devel] aspect testing

I've got to admit, it's not completely clear.
But after encountering the 'hanging' aspect, I downloaded the tar.gz
version of 1.5.0 distribution, unpacked it, and built the code, and
achieved an aspect build that would run.

I did a separate test build by using git to clone the master branch of
aspect. That also runs, and allows to make and run the benchmarks, but the
testing suite fails to find the test source directories, as reported
earlier.

So the most likely explaination for the 'hanging' aspect was that I botched
the git clone on the aspect-1.5.0 branch, but I've not replicated that
process to verify.

My next step would be to see about running the tests manually, but your
recent comments suggest that CMake is necessary for properly building the
shared libraries for each test. If there is a manual step forward that
would be great.

Ideally, the CMake configuration could be fixed....without reinstalling a
working build.....
