Hi all,

FYI, configuring p4est without MPI-IO did indeed solve the issue. 

If you’re using candi to install deal.II, within the candi source directory modify deal.II-toolchain/packages/p4est.package to include --disable-mpiio. 

Specifically, --disable-mpiio should be added to the lines specifying the configuration options for the “DEBUG” (lines 75-79) and “FAST” (lines 89-93) builds.
