Dear SPECFEM 2D user:

CIG is pleased to announce a major new release of SPECFEM2D, which
facilitates 2D simulations of acoustic, (an)elastic, and poroelastic
seismic wave propagation.

The 2D spectral-element solver accommodates regular & unstructured meshes,
generated for example by Cubit (cubit.sandia.gov). The solver has adjoint
capabilities and can calculate finite-frequency sensitivity kernels for
acoustic, (an)elastic, and poroelastic media. Finally, the solver can run
both in serial and in parallel.

The 6.0 release may be obtained via the CIG website at:

http://geodynamics.org/cig/software/packages/seismo/specfem2d/

The READ ME manual remains valid - additional notes on the new version can
be found in the README files of the tar ball.

Please e-mail your feedback, questions, comments, and suggestions to
