Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite your participation in a workshop on the
“Opportunities and Challenges in Computational Geophysics” March
30-31, 2009, on the Caltech Campus in Pasadena, CA

At the workshop we will address scientific activities involving state-
of-the art software such as that being supported by CIG, innovations
and opportunities in computational geophysics, and ways to support
and grow computational geoscience through community education
programs. An important objective is to obtain community input on the
future of the CIG initiative. The overall format will combine invited
talks, discussion sessions and posters. Participants in all areas of
our science are expected, including experts in computational science
and in geophysics. Young investigators are encouraged to participate.
Financial support is available for participants.

A preliminary agenda is now available at
http://geodynamics.org/cig/future-of-cig-agenda

Please register now using this Registration Form:

Accommodations are available at the Courtyard Marriott, 180 North Fair
Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91103, phone: 800-321-2211.

The room rate is $159 a night, with check-in on March 29 (Sunday), and
check-out March 31 (Tuesday). There are a few rooms available if you
need to stay over Tuesday night due to travel problems. Hotel
reservation cut-off date is currently February 20, but there may be an
extension to March 1.

Independent of your participation in the workshop, we seek your
feedback in the following survey:
http://geodynamics.org/cig/upcoming/cig-survey09

Independent of your participation in the workshop, we also would like
all CIG members to provide a one-page summary of their CIG experience
(very important for our CIG II proposal planning); see
http://geodynamics.org/cig/proposalsndocs/documents/onepagers/
