Dear colleagues,

Global & Computational Seismology group at the Department of Geophysics, Colorado School of Mines, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a recently funded AFRL (Air Force Research Laboratory) project on constructing high-resolution seismic models of the Middle East region. The project aims to combine waveforms with arrival times in adjoint inversions based on 3D wave simulations to improve data coverage in the study area. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with Université Côte d’Azur and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The position is initially for one year with a possibility of extension to a second year upon a satisfactory progress.

Requirements: The candidates must have a PhD degree in seismology, geophysics, applied mathematics or related fields. Experience in numerical methods, large-scale HPC simulations, seismic data (earthquake waveforms and ISC data) & processing and seismic imaging is preferable. The successful candidate is also expected to have good communicational (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills for collaborative work.

Application Procedure: Please apply online at http://jobs.mines.edu/cw/en-us/job/493298/postdoctoral-fellow-seismology

To apply for the position, please send a cover letter stating your background and research interests, full CV including the publication list and the contact information of three references.

The position is available immediately. Application reviews will be on a continuous basis until the position is filled. Questions and requests for further information about the position can be emailed to Prof. Ebru Bozdag (bozdag at mines.edu<mailto:bozdag at mines.edu>).
