[CIG-LONG] Complex crustal model simulations

Hello Walter

Yes the example that you illustrated is essentially what I would be looking to try and simulate, but keeping things a bit simplified by just having the subduction and back-arc extension. I would not be looking to test the loading as this is something I can work with gravity models for.

In terms of crustal thickness, I would be looking to test a 2D model with the back-arc region having a thicker crust/lithosphere compared to the fore-arc zone, with both regions having a continental rheological model.

The tests I would be interested in looking at would consider the rate of subduction and back-arc spreading and varying the subduction angle. If GALE can model the thermal profile over time that would be good too. Keeping things 2D does make things simpler. Hope that this clarifies some points better.

Regards
