Hello everybody,
I am trying to compile SNAC on my linux workstation (Red Hat Enterprise
5), but I have run into a snag. After running configure.sh, I attempt
to compile using make, but I receive the following error:

/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/mpich-1.2.7p1/lib/libmpich.a(wtime.o): relocation
R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared
object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/local/mpich-1.2.7p1/lib/libmpich.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Do I need to re-compile my mpich libraries with the -fPIC command so that
SNAC can use them? I have attached my SNAC.system and StGERMAIN.system
files along with make.log to this email.

Has anybody else run into this problem?

Thanks,
Eric Mittelstaedt
