Hi Elisa,

I am not using the citcoms version you use. But my experience in such situation is that the value of vlowstep could be increased much more, say up to 10,000. 

Also, I would try to use a weaker asthenosphere (via visc0) than the mantle above and below. Try to use some finite value for viscT instead of 0.
