Hi all:

Revised GeoFEST runs that fixed the slip taper have finally progressed through
the simulation and processing pipeline. Updated plots of the benchmarking
results are at
http://www.geodynamics.org:8080/cig/workinggroups/short/workarea/benchmarks/benchmark-strikeslip/plots/.
The new GeoFEST results look encouraging. There is very close agreement
between the analytical solution and the GeoFEST output at 250 m resolution.

The "you need to fix something" pendulum has swung to the PyLith-0.8 side now
as it now looks like there is a slight glitch in the PyLith-0.8 input. The
GeoFEST elastic solution agrees much better with the analytical solution than
the PyLith-0.8 elastic solution, but the two numerical elastic solutions
should be nearly identical (which they were for the reverse no-gravity
benchmark). Based on the plots, the slip taper and bottom boundary condition
in the PyLith input should be scrutinized.

Brad
