[CIG-SHORT] trouble installing v1.8.0 from source

Romain,

Did you wipe your build directory clean before building the new version?

My general suggestion when updating from one version to another is to 
wipe clean the $PREFIX, build, and source directories before installing. 
Additionally, having multiple versions on your machine can be a problem 
unless you are very careful with environment variables.
