[CIG-SHORT] updip shear direction

Hi Brad,
Please see the attachment. Actually, I seek some answers. As we can see in the attached picture, is this right that updip direction can be either clockwise or counter-clockwise which depends on different fault tilt angle?
The reason I pay attention to clockwise or counter-clockwise is that in Mohr circle, shear convention is clockwise or counterclockwise. If the updip direction can be either clockwise or counter-clockwise, then I can not be sure to apply positive value or negative value.

See Figure 6.2 on page 91 (119 of 268) in the PyLith v2.2.0 manual.
