[CIG-SHORT] Pylith question

Dear Xiaoxi,

Looking at your mesh, it is very coarse for this type of problem, particularly since you are using linear tets. I suspect that your results will improve with a finer mesh. As Matt mentions, getting stresses from an initial elastic problem may also help. Keep in mind that the FE solution in general is not exact, particularly for coarse meshes. It might be helpful to look at the difference in stresses between the elastic solution and the analytical solution. You can either do this in Python or using the calculator in Paraview.

Cheers,
Charles

Five surfaces are fixed with free ground surface. I expect the result to be zero displacement in the domain, however, there is some subsidence above the layers. I'm not sure where the problem is. Can you please help me check the files and let me know if anything need to be changed to solve the problem
