[aspect-devel] Visco_plastic material model

Hi John,

I looked at the the visco_plastic.prm file and I have a question:
How do you define which compositional fields are in the plastic domain and which are in the viscous?
Only by their cohesions?

Mohamed

Hi Mohamed,

There is a ‘test’ input file (visco_plastic.prm) for the visco plastic material model in the development version of Aspect. The test files are located in the ‘tests’ folder.

Take a look at that and let me know if you have any questions. I think that should be a reasonable starting point for building a new model.

I’m working on additional examples with strain weakening at the moment, which should be available at the end of June.

Cheers,
John

Hi John,

Could you please share a parameter file where a visco_plastic material model is used.
Finally I have time to run visco_plastic models and I need a template to see how to setup the various parameters.

Thank you.
