Foundation to develop and support high performance open source software for
geophysical applications in cooperation with the computational geoscience
community.
The successful applicants will be expected to:
1. Work with academic scientists to identify and implement improved
algorithms for computational simulations in one or more of the following
areas of geophysics: earthquake dynamics, lithospheric deformation, mantle
dynamics, seismic wave propagation and the geodynamo.
2. Participate in software training activities for academic
geoscientists using CIG software, including giving talks about the
software, participating in one-on-one or small-group discussions, and
assisting in documenting the software.
The successful applicants for the lead developer position will also be
expected to:
1. Provide high-level technical direction, management/oversight and
strategic technology planning support to CIG
2. Provide leadership and support to CIG software engineers in
development, architecture and maintenance of highly complex open-source
modeling software.
Applicants should have knowledge of computer science, cross-platform
programming, applied physics, geophysics or a closely related field.
