Greetings,

I am pleased to announce the release of Gale 1.1.1, an implicit finite
element code for the long term tectonics community. This latest
release features a number of bug fixes and improved documentation.
You can download binaries or the source code from

   http://geodynamics.org/cig/software/packages/long/gale/

Installation instructions are in the bundled README and INSTALL files.
For your enjoyment, I have attached a visualization of a subduction
example.

GALE Training
-------------

I would also like to remind everyone that there will be a training
session on Gale at Earthscope 2007. For more information, see

Cheers,
Walter Landry

Release Notes:

  * The output information about particles is more complete.
  * There is now VTK output for all fields and particles, and examples

  * An inifinite loop that only happened with optimized builds is fixed
  * The matlab scripts now work
  * A bug where builds would fail if petsc was linked against fortran
    libraries is fixed.

While this release should be useful to many researchers, we continue
to work on

  * Improved parallel performance
