[CIG-SEISMO] arbitrary velocity model in SPECFEM3D

Hi,
How can I run SPECFEM3D with an arbitrary 3D velocity model?
My domain is a 200x200x100 km box and I don't need the mesh to honor the 
velocity model.
I know SPECFEM3D-GLOBE now has this user-friendly feature, but I don't 
need a mesh that goes down to the Core.
