[CIG-SEISMO] Asking about getting start of SPECFEM3D

To whom it concerns,


  I am a beginning graduate student and first of all, thanks to all
researchers who dedicate for SPECFEM3D.

I have a few questions to use this great software. Please let me ask. :)

I am using my laptop to run SPECFEM3D for my simple model. It has 64bit
Ubuntu 12.04 OS and I have no intel compilers, but I installed gcc, g++,
gfortran, libmpich2-dev and bison etc.

1> what I did is, " ~$ ./configure CC=gcc FC=gfortran MPIFC=mpif90 ". This
made Makefile, but " ~$ make " has error. What I should do to make
executable files in /bin folder ??

2> Since my laptop is my only computer and I am not good at parallel
computing yet, let me ask you this. Should I configure " --without-MPI "
instead of mpif90 ??

Thanks for reading this, please help me to understand how to run this and
improve my research.

FYI, I recently got icc and ifort of non commercial version. I have tried
but same failure it makes.
