[CIG-SHORT] problem with a benchmark of 250m mesh

Dear pylith developers:

I have tried strike-slip benchmarks described in Chapter 8 in the User
Manual. Tests for 500 m and 1000m meshes were successfully finished, but
a test for 250 m mesh was failed.

I used the pylith binary executable (pylith-1.3.0-linux-i686) and used
the parameter files downloaded from Web Site 
http://www.geodynamics.org/svn/cig/short/3D/PyLith/benchmarks/trunk/quasistatic/strikeslipnog 
without change.

I did the three tests as 
1) pylith strikeslip_cubit.cfg strikeslip_hex8_1000m.cfg,  
2) pylith strikeslip_cubit.cfg strikeslip_hex8_0500m.cfg, 
3) pylith strikeslip_cubit.cfg strikeslip_hex8_0250m.cfg.  

Finally, Job 3) ended after creating Jacobian matrix, with PETSc errors

[0]PETSC ERROR: Out of memory. This could be due to allocating
[0]PETSC ERROR: too large an object or bleeding by not properly
[0]PETSC ERROR: destroying unneeded objects.
[0]PETSC ERROR: Memory allocated 0 Memory used by process -2147483648
[0]PETSC ERROR: Try running with -malloc_dump or -malloc_log for info.
[0]PETSC ERROR: Memory requested 2523809244!
......
RuntimeError: Could not create PETSc Matrix.

However, our computer machine has enough memory with the following
specification.

OS: CentOS release 4.4 (Final)
linux: 2.6.9-42.0.10.ELsmp x86_64
CPU(64bit): Intel(R) Xeon(R) X5355 @ 2.66GHz  (Dual quad-core)
Memory: DDR2-800  64GB

I couldn’t find out what caused this problem and would like to ask you
give some idea. Attachment files are the runtime logs of the above jobs.
