Hi Brad, thanks for your help. Right now my code to save the h5 file is
[pylithapp.problem.formulation]
output = [subdomain]
output.subdomain = pylith.meshio.OutputSolnSubset

[pylithapp.problem.formulation.output.subdomain]
writer = pylith.meshio.DataWriterHDF5
label = face_pos #surface
vertex_data_fields = [displacement]
writer.filename = surface.h5

but it still save the vtk files. Is there something else I'm missing??

Thanks
