[CIG-SHORT] Kinematic fault convergence

Hi Nick,

For now, we’ll assume that your geometry is OK. Questions for you:

1. Does your residual continue to get smaller, or does it ‘get stuck’ at a particular residual value?
2. Have you tried any of the solver settings in src/share/settings? Specifically, I would try solver_fault_fieldsplit.cfg. Note that this setting is only useful if you have faults in your problem.

Try the solver setting above, and save the log file. If the solution still doesn’t converge, please send the log to us.

Cheers,
Charles

This is strange because before I export the mesh there are no free surfaces and I have imprinted/merged the geometry successfully (before meshing) in trelis. After i export the mesh as .exo and then import it back into trelis is says there are free surfaces.

I am not certain whether that is responsible for your problems, but I would delete unused free surfaces and make sure everything is merged when you create your mesh.
