This virtual workshop will focus on providing training in the use of
the CIG PyLith software (https://geodynamics.org/cig/software/pylith/)
for modeling crustal deformation, particularly interseismic,
coseismic, and postseismic deformation. The training will also include
some instruction in CUBIT/Trelis for creating finite-element meshes as
input for PyLith and visualizing PyLith output using Paraview.

The workshop will be held Monday August 24 and Tuesday August 25 using
AdobeConnect browser-based tools. Each of the two days will be divided
into 2 hour sessions with morning (Pacific Time) and afternoon
(Pacific Time) sessions. There are no registration fees.

The tutorial will focus on helping users become more familiar with
using PyLith in combination with CUBIT/Trelis and Paraview. Prior to
the workshop, users should have viewed the introductory materials in
previous, archived tutorials
(https://wiki.geodynamics.org/software:pylith:start) and/or attended
previous in-person training. Users are also expected to have worked
through some of the examples in the PyLith manual.

We plan to continue holding in-person crustal deformation modeling
workshop on a biannual basis (even years) with the next workshop
tentatively scheduled for June 2016, at the Colorado School of Mines in
Golden, CO.
