Travel Information

Reimbursement Information

  • Important: See Travel Reimbursement below.
  • Only participants with official U.S. appointments will receive partial reimbursement of travel expenses.
  • Air travel must be done on a US carrier in order to be reimbursed.

Lodging

Lodging in 55 dorm rooms in Weaver Towers (same as last two years) will be covered for registered participants from U.S. institutions. Rooms are single occupancy in a suite format with 5-6 rooms per suite and 2 shared bathrooms. Sign up for dorm accommodations by indicating your preferences on the registration form.

Participants may choose to stay in a hotel but will not be reimbursed for their lodging expenses. Local hotels include the Table Mountain Inn (800-762-9898) and the The Golden Hotel (303-215-4156). If you choose to stay in one of the hotels and cover your own lodging, you must make your own hotel reservations.

Airport Shuttle

Participants (except invited speakers) should expect to cover their own transportation to/from the airport. Renting a car is strongly discouraged because you will not need a car while in Golden. We recommend Super Shuttle (800-258-3826). Allow up to an hour and a half for the trip. For those departing Thu or Fri, we will try to coordinate shuttle reservations at the workshop for traveling from Golden to the airport.

Travel Reimbursement

We have obtained funding from CIG, NSF, and SCEC for the 2009 Workshop on Numerical Modeling of Crustal Deformation and Earthquake Faulting that will be held in Golden, CO June 22-26. Due to increased restrictions on reimbursement from our sponsors and reduced budget, we have been forced to change our reimbursement policy from previous years.

Attendees from U.S. institutions will receive at least partial reimbursement for their expenses associated with travel to the workshop. Precise amounts will depend on the total workshop expenses. We are sorry that we are unable to cover any expenses or provide lodging for participants with appointments at foreign institutions.

Note: All registered participants will be provided a light breakfast and lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. All other meals (dinners and all meals on Friday) will be "on your own." There are a number of restaurants within walking distance.

We will reimburse attendees based on the following criteria:

  1. Lodging in the dorm rooms by participants with appointments at U.S. institutions will be covered. Attendees choosing to stay in a hotel will be required to pay for their own lodging expenses.
  2. All invited speakers will be reimbursed for all their airfare and local transportation.
  3. Registered attendees with official appointments at U.S. institutions will be reimbursed for as much of their domestic airfare as funding allows. Attendees may be required to pay for a portion of their airfare.
  4. Any remaining funds will be used to cover local transportation for participants with official appointments at U.S. institutions.
