2017 ASPECT Hackathon

Transportation

All participants should plan on flying roundtrip to Atlanta Airport, Hartsfield (ATL) arriving Saturday, May 6 and departing Wednesday, May 17. Group transportation to Blue Ridge, Georgia will be provided. Please avoid very late arriving or very early departing flights.

Travel support is available to cover most of transportation costs. Please apply when registering.

Travel Reimbursements

Participants will be reimbursed up to their offer amount for transportation expenses only. Transportation upon arrival will be covered as a group expense.

Lodging

All rooms are shared (2-6 persons) with own or shared bathrooms.  Bed types include bunkbeds. Rooming arrangements are preassigned.

Please remember to bring your own toiletries - soap, shampoo, etc. A flashlight is recommended.

Laundry is available on site.

Food

This is a group event. Participants are expected to share in general upkeep of the premises. This includes two days of mandatory kitchen duty. KP (kitchen patrol) begins with dinner and ends with lunch. Teams are expected to have the kitchen ready for the next meal.  Everyone is expected to clean-up after themselves.

Evening meals are catered except for two free evenings. Breakfast and lunch provisions will be available with limited food preparation service (DIY). Baking is highly encouraged!

Volunteers are needed for pre-trip grocery shopping.

Clothing

Blue Ridge, GA lies in the Appalachian Mountains. Average temperatures in May is 49/78F min/max.

The region has a range of recreational activities. We recommend bringing a pair of hiking shoes, swimsuit and towel, rain jacket, fly fishing rod, bug repellent, and whatever else you need to enjoy the great outdoors. Please check with us before bringing bulky items.
