2017 ASPECT Hackathon

2017 ASPECT Hackathon

6-17 May 2017

Blue Ridge, Georgia

To further the development of the mantle convection code ASPECT and its user community, current users and developers of ASPECT will be working side-by-side over an approximately 10 day period. Participants will make significant progress both on the development of ASPECT itself, as well as on the models individual users are building for their own research.

Among the topics of interest are:

  •  More complete material descriptions
  •  Benchmarking
  •  Plugins for individual research questions
  •  Documentation updates
  •  Improvements to the nonlinear solvers
  •  Level-set methods for accurately tracking compositional fields

The majority of the time will be spent working on the code in an informal setting, individually or in small groups.

DATES

The hackathon will begin the evening of Saturday May 6 with participants departing on Wednesday May 17. 

LOCATION

The hackathon will be held in Blue Ridge, Georgia.  Group transportation will be arranged from Atlanta Airport Hartsfield (ATL). Please see Logistics Page.

APPLICATION

Participants must apply to attend. Registration does not guarantee acceptance to the event.

All registrants must apply for support for Workshop Fees.
