2016 CIG ‘16 Interdiscplinary Directions in Computational Geophysics
A Geologic Tour Through the California Coast Range
Description
This afternoon field excursion will explore the local geology of the California Coast Ranges surrounding Lake Berryessa. The geology of this region highlights both prior and active tectonic processes, including forearc sedimentation, ophiolite obduction, anomalous volcanism and modern transpressional deformation. We will examine these processes through a series of stops at roadside outcrops.
At the end of the field trip, participants will have the opportunity to grab dinner and music at the celebrated Davis Farmer's Market in downtown Davis or be returned to campus housing. Campus Housing is a short walk from Central Park where the Market is located.
